Made in West Germany. This historic recording was made in Berlin-Dahlem, Jesus-Christus-Kirche, 26–30 September 1958, on a J.C. Neupert “Bach” model harpsichord (1957). Ralph Kirkpatrick was one of the most important 20th-century harpsichordists and musicologists, best known for his scholarship on Bach and Scarlatti. His performance of the Goldberg Variations remains a significant interpretation in recorded history.
